From the waters of Sri Lanka

Our blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) comes from Sri Lanka, where it is the national flower. It grows in warm, shallow ponds and still water in full sun. Traditionally the blooms are gathered by hand in the early morning, when they are fully open, and dried in the shade. We concentrate the flower into an extract so every gummy carries the same strength. How blue lotus is grown and harvested

A sacred flower across cultures

  • Ancient Egypt. The sun god Ra was said to rise from a blue lotus at the beginning of time. Nefertem, god of healing and beauty, wore it as a crown, and it fills temple and tomb paintings as the flower of rebirth.
  • India. In Hindu tradition the lotus stands for purity and awakening and is held by Vishnu and Lakshmi.
  • Tibet. Blue Tara, the fierce and protective face of compassion, is shown with blue lotus flowers.
  • Sri Lanka. Rising clean through muddy water, it is one of the oldest Buddhist images of the awakening mind.

How to use

Take one gummy in the evening, 30 to 60 minutes before sleep. For a simple dreaming ritual, keep a notebook by your pillow and write down the first image you remember when you wake.

Pairs with Expand (Bobinsana). Add any two of our gummies and $10 comes off automatically.

  • Vegan, 10 gummies per pouch
  • Made in FDA-registered kitchens in the United States

Gummy or tea? A gummy gives you the same 50 mg of extract every time, no steeping or guessing. Our Dream tea is the whole flower, steeped, for when you want the ritual. We compared the two here.

The pathways: what the research examines, and its limits

Blue lotus has a thinner research base than kava or caapi, and where the knowledge comes from matters:

  • Aporphine alkaloids. The flower's notable constituents are apomorphine and nuciferine.
  • Apomorphine is a thoroughly characterised dopamine receptor agonist — characterised well enough that it exists as a pharmaceutical for unrelated indications.
  • Nuciferine has been studied for activity at dopamine and serotonin receptors.
  • What extraction changes. Concentrating the flower into an extract raises alkaloid content per gram relative to loose petals. That is the mechanical rationale for a standardised dose, and it is why 50 mg of extract is not the same as 50 mg of dried flower.
  • The honest limit. Most of what circulates about blue lotus is inferred from the isolated pharmacology of these compounds rather than measured in studies of the flower or its preparations. How much reaches you, and how the constituents behave together, is not well established. We would rather describe the evidence accurately than flatter it.

This describes pathways, not outcomes, and it is not a claim that this product treats any condition.
