Every plant we work with comes from a specific place, grown or wildcrafted by people who know it well. We think you should be able to trace what's in your gummy back to where it grew — so here's exactly where each of our botanicals comes from, and how we handle them once they arrive.

Where each plant is grown

Kava and Caapi — the Big Island of Hawai'i. Our Kava is grown, formulated, and made on the Big Island, and we use only the waka (root) of the plant — not the leaves or stem. That distinction matters: most of the liver-safety concerns behind kava restrictions in some countries trace back to products made from the wrong part of the plant. Traditional Pacific Island preparation has used root-only kava safely for centuries, and that's the standard we hold ourselves to. Our Banisteriopsis caapi vine is also grown in Hawai'i (as well as South America, its native range), and formulated with Hawaiian Rollinia fruit.

Bobinsana — the Amazon, Ecuador. Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia), also known as Sirenita Bobinsana, is a riverine shrub native to the Amazonian wetlands. Ours is sourced as pure Ecuadorian Bobinsana extract, working with the plant's native range rather than trying to cultivate it elsewhere.

Kanna — South Africa. Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is indigenous to South Africa, where it has centuries of traditional use. We source Sceletium tortuosum extract true to that origin rather than substituting a different regional variety.

Blue Lotus — Sri Lanka. Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) has been sacred across Egyptian, Indian, and Nepali traditions. Our Blue Lotus extract is sourced from Sri Lanka.

What we do with them once they arrive

  • Solventless extraction. We don't use harsh chemical solvents to pull the active compounds out of these plants.
  • Organic ingredients. The botanicals and the ingredients we formulate them with (cane juice, fruit, pectin, and similar) are organic.
  • Third-party lab tested. Every batch is tested for purity by an outside lab, not just checked internally.
  • Made in FDA-certified kitchens in the United States. Formulation and dosing happen stateside, in certified facilities, so potency is consistent gummy to gummy.
  • Vegan, no additives. No animal-derived ingredients, no unnecessary fillers.

Why sourcing ethics matter to us

Several of these plants — Bobinsana, Kanna, Blue Lotus — carry deep indigenous and traditional significance in the places they come from. We think that history deserves respect: working with growers who know the plant's traditional context, being transparent about where and how something was grown, and not treating a sacred plant as just a commodity. We write about this at length on our guidance blog, including our take on ethnobotanical research ethics and cultural respect.
